Sentani Man—Housepost Figure

This piece was inspired by a New Guinea doorpost sculpture in the de Young Museum's Polynesian exhibit. On a monoprint field is a linoleum block print, an original poem in uncial hand calligraphy with gold and silver gilt initial caps.

This ancient iconic figure can be found in the Pacific Ocean Cook Islands culture, 3,600 miles to the west.
